Bishop Greer is a leader deeply rooted in faith, social justice, and inclusion. Born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, on June 21, 1979, into a Roman Catholic family, Bishop Godsey's journey through various expressions of Christian faith has shaped their ministry and calling. With time spent in Pentecostal, Southern Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, and non-denominational churches, they gained a wide perspective of Christian beliefs before founding St. Francis Parish and Outreach in Augusta, Georgia.
In 2002, Bishop Godsey founded the Ancient Apostolic Communion, a ministry aimed at proclaiming the good news that God loves everyone. This mission laid the groundwork for their continued work as they helped merge the Communion into the Old Catholic Apostolic Church, which later became known as the Old Catholic Churches International. As the second Presiding Bishop of this jurisdiction, Bishop Godsey has been instrumental in stabilizing and expanding its reach.
Bishop Godsey is also the Senior Pastor of Saint Francis Parish and Outreach, a vibrant parish dedicated to serving the least, the lost, and the forgotten, especially in the Augusta area. Through this ministry, they provide nutrition and toiletry bags to the homeless and reach out to the LGBTQIA+ community, offering support and inclusion.
A passionate advocate for social justice, Bishop Godsey is a strong supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and a vocal critic of racism, sexism, and discrimination of all kinds. Their belief that all people are created equal in the image of God drives their ministry and advocacy work.
In addition to their pastoral work, Bishop Godsey has an impressive background in communications and media, having founded Convergent Streams magazine, a resource for the Independent Sacramental Movement, as well as the Independent Sacramental Movement Database. Their ability to communicate complex theological concepts in a clear and engaging way makes them a gifted preacher and teacher.
Beyond their ministry, Bishop Godsey is also an Amateur Radio Operator, with a passion for community outreach and education. They have taught middle and high school students about radio technology and have worked with emergency services during times of disaster.
Known for their warmth, engaging personality, and dedication to justice, Bishop Godsey is a powerful voice for inclusion and equality. Their life and work inspire countless individuals to embrace their calling and live out their faith in meaningful ways.
