God Works Through Our Impossible
By Julie Taylor
Do you have a problem, situation, or concern that you fear even God can’t fix? Maybe you’re wondering if you’re even on God’s radar at all… Well, you’re not alone in feeling isolated, cut off like an injured animal; fearful, hiding somewhere, licking their wounds. Our relationship, our experience with God can leave us with questions, strong emotions, and unanswered prayers sometimes.
Hey, every miracle in the Bible started out as a problem.
Moses killed a man and lived as an outcast in Midian before God called him into great service. David was hunted by King Saul, and even his very own son—both of whom wanted to kill him. Naomi lost her husband and her two sons to a crippling famine. Jonah lived in the belly of a fish for three days and nights. Joseph was sold into slavery by his very own brothers and was then imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Jeremiah was put into a muddy hole and left to die. Job lost all his children, his livestock, his livelihood, and was riddled with open sores from head to foot.
The characters and stories in the Bible mirror the pain and tribulation we experience in our own lives. We suffer, we see others suffer, and it’s natural to wonder, ‘Where is God in the middle of all of this?’ And although the characters in the Bible went through difficult, scary, and even life-threatening situations, none of their stories ended there. God worked through and blessed all of these people.
Difficult moments teach us empathy, resilience, and compassion. Difficult moments show us where we might need growth or how we can help someone else. Difficult moments test our trust in God to sustain us, restore us, and comfort us. It’s okay to take our complex emotions, even our difficult questions to God, our Heavenly Father.
In Matthew chapter 24, Jesus is speaking to His disciples, warning them that things will get worse before He returns again. In verse 13 of that chapter, Jesus tells them, “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Our Savior is encouraging us to persevere, to stand firm in our faith, especially during times of trials and tribulations.
And we can, friends. Why?
We can rest in righteous faith that reminds us that at just the right time, in just the right way, and in just the right measure, God will restore us. So hang in there, trust in God, and keep praying through it all.
“...And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Jesus, Matthew 28:20
